A taste of Cauca’s potential & its resilience; one of the two coffees that we secured at the 'Best of Cauca' auction last year. Together with a lot from producer Kevin Perafan, these two Terroir driven and complex coffees come from the south of Cauca, where nutrient-rich soil and a perfect climate play a key role in producing some of Colombia’s most sought-after coffees. (Available as bundle here)

This all exists against a backdrop of poverty, conflict, and limited infrastructure. Coffee farming offers a path forward in the region, an alternative to the still-dominant coca crops. The auction is an inspiration to many local farmers, showing that coffee can offer a sustainable future.

Why Best of Cauca Matters
The Best of Cauca auction was created to shine a light on the talent and dedication of coffee producers in a region often overlooked. For years, many farming communities in Cauca had few viable options for making a living and some turned to coca cultivation out of necessity, not choice.
This initiative offers a powerful alternative. By celebrating quality, paying fair prices, and connecting producers to international buyers, Best of Cauca proves that coffee can be more than a crop, it can be a path to stability, recognition, and long-term opportunity.
Behind every lot is a story of resilience, care, and commitment. And that’s exactly what this auction brings to the forefront once a year in the village of Arigela.

About Jhon Sanchez
He made his start in specialty coffee through a local association, where he found himself right in the middle of it all, learning about unique varietals and soaking up inspiration. Curious and motivated, he decided to grow Gesha using seeds his neighbour had brought back from Panama, the kickstart of his coffee journey. Harvested in harmony with the help of the whole neighbourhood, the cherries were placed into airtight bags for a few hours before depulping. It’s washed, clean, delicate, and the first thing you’ll want to brew in the morning.
