To accompany our Indonesian all-star Saudara, we found two other nano-lots from Sumatra, and this one’s up first. What differentiates the coffees from the ‘Gayo Origin Project’ is that they process with their own twist. Focusing on cleaner and more vibrant flavors, hopping into the unknown rather than following traditional Indo coffeemaking protocol. The result is a silky, earthy, spice-driven profile with notes of tamarind, mango and papaya.

When Ibna & Hapid, back in 2022 realised that there weren't any new-generation coffee producers around their hometown, wild ideas became reality and the ‘Gayo Origin Project’ was born. A journey full of experiments, mistakes, learning, and eventually finding their groove led to a totally fresh approach of Indonesian specialty coffee.

What is wet-hulled coffee? Mostly found in Indonesia, this processing method suits the humid climate and results in coffee with an intense body, relatively low acidity, and earthy, spicy flavours. Beans are hulled while still moist, unlike in other methods where beans are fully dried before hulling.
